LIBRARY CARD INFORMATION
The Harvard Diggins Library is a municipal library funded by property taxes collected on all residences within the city limits of the City of Harvard or by annual fees collected from non-residents outside of the city limits who wish to use the library. A Harvard Diggins Library card is your ticket to all of the resources available in the library and at over 130 area libraries! Residents of Harvard, ages 5 and up (ages 5-15 with parental signature) and non-residents can obtain a library card. How can you get a card? Follow these 3 easy steps:
Step 1
Determine if you are a resident of the City of Harvard and reside within its city limits. How do I do this? Check the tax bill of your property or rental (see box below) and look for the following line item in the box labeled “taxing body” : HARVARD CITY LIBRARY.
- If the line is present, you are a resident of the City of Harvard and you are supporting the library with your property taxes. Continue to Step 2.
- If the line is not present, then the residence is not within the city limits and the library is not receiving any tax support from the property. An annual fee of $130.00 (amount determined as the equal amount paid by a resident taxpayer) per household is required for a library card. Continue to Step 3.
